Dakshinayan was packed as always — we just made it in time to grab a table. The must-haves here are the Tatte Idli, which is absolutely lip-smacking, and their strong filter coffee with minimal sugar. We also loved the Mysore Sada, Tomato Capsicum Uttapam, and the Rasam Wada. The chutneys are consistently excellent and truly elevate the meal. Unfortunately, we couldn’t try the stew this time as they had run out of it. However, we’re not particularly big fans of their sambar. Overall, still a great spot for a satisfying South Indian meal.

Dakshinayan in Juhu is a highly recommended, budget-friendly spot for anyone seeking authentic South Indian cuisine in Mumbai. Despite its simple decor, it remains a favorite among locals and celebrities for its consistently delicious food and quick hospitality. Ambiance and Service The restaurant features a peaceful, straightforward dining environment where staff serve guests in traditional South Indian attire. Because of its immense popularity, visitors should anticipate a wait time of 30 to 45 minutes, especially during weekends. Fortunately, once you are seated, the kitchen operates with remarkable efficiency and brings out orders within minutes. Food and Specialties The menu focuses heavily on perfectly executed classic staples that are incredibly flavourful and reasonably priced. Standout recommendations include the Molgapodi Idli generously coated in ghee and gunpowder, alongside their comforting Rasam Vada and crispy Mysore Masala Dosa. Large groups can enjoy a massive 4-foot long family dosa, and every visit should conclude with a hot cup of their signature filter coffee.

I visited Dakshinayan Restaurant near ISKCON Temple, and I really loved it. The South Indian food is very tasty with many good options. The vibe is peaceful and nice. After breakfast, we went for a walk at Juhu Beach, and it made the whole morning perfect. Would surely visit again. 🌸
