My name is Khyal Jadav, and I am a graduating student from the IMBA Department. I am writing this email to formally share my feedback and concerns regarding the management of the IMBA convocation ceremony. I would like to clearly state at the outset that this email is not written against any individual, faculty member, or authority. My intention is only to present the reality and experience of what many of us faced on the day of convocation, in the hope that such issues can be addressed and avoided in the future. Firstly, the decision to conduct the IMBA convocation in the auditorium instead of the amphitheatre felt unfair and disappointing, especially when compared with other programs. This gave a strong impression of unequal treatment, which deeply hurt the sentiments of IMBA students. Secondly, the selection of “Top 10 Students” appeared biased and purely marks-based, ignoring overall student contribution. Several students who were selected had never participated in extracurricular activities, leadership roles, or departmental events, while many deserving students lost their opportunity. What is more concerning is that these points were not assumptions, but were openly discussed by faculty members themselves, which makes this issue even more serious. Additionally, during the convocation, there was severe mismanagement: Students were not given sufficient time for photographs, even though this was the last day many of us would meet. Lights were switched off early, and students were literally pushed out, which was extremely disrespectful. Other departments were allowed to stay longer, while IMBA students were rushed out. There was a shortage of food, counters were closed early, and many students left without eating. As students of a management program, witnessing such lack of coordination was embarrassing and painful. Further, although we understand that inviting parents may sometimes be difficult, at the very least, degree distribution could have been handled with dignity. Degrees were distributed hurriedly at tables in a crowded setting, without even announcing student names properly. This moment, which should have been proud and memorable for students and parents, felt rushed and poorly handled. GLS University speaks about reputation, growth, and launching new programs, which we truly appreciate. However, we sincerely feel that existing programs and students also deserve equal respect and proper management, especially after paying significant fees and dedicating three years of hard work. If the university is choosing to follow or replicate practices from other universities, such as appointing a cricketer as a brand ambassador, then at the very least, the remaining students also deserve the presence of a respectable guest for their convocation. The guest does not have to be famous; even a dignified and relevant guest would have been sufficient. Instead, degrees were handed over by faculty members without even announcing students’ names. We, too, deserve that basic level of respect and recognition. We are thankful to GLS University for the education, learning, and exposure provided to us during these three years. However, such incidents damage the university’s reputation and deeply hurt students’ emotions. This email reflects not just my concern, but the collective concern of many IMBA students. We humbly request the university authorities to take this feedback seriously and not overlook it, so future batches do not experience the same disappointment. Very poor management.
The staff member in the NRBBA building responsible for administrative tasks was very unprofessional and discourteous towards students. I understand that administrative duties can be stressful, but students also deserve to be treated with respect and politeness. I hope the university will address this matter and enhance the overall student experience. I prefer not to mention her name, but many students are aware of the situation.
