I visited this store for the first time and immediately fell in love. The narrow passages, completely surrounded by books from floor to ceiling, give an excellent vibe. They have a decent collection, and it’s fun to just browse through them. The staff is courteous and knows their way around both the store and the books. They can also give you some good recommendations if you are so inclined; otherwise, they leave you alone to browse in peace. My biggest drawback of the place was it sizes, even with a few people it can get crowded making browsing an issue. They also host author signings, so follow their Instagram for updates regarding that . One point of confusion was I had was whether the South Extension Midland store is by the same people or not. Since the website doesn’t mention it. They are owned by different people. - 🍀✨Serendipity index - good, filled from floor to ceiling with books :D - 👀 📖☕️ Browsing index - good, but the small size of the shop makes it less than ideal to just sit and browse for long without getting disturbed - 🏷️% Discount/membership - No - 🧾🔖📚Secondhand books - Didn’t spot many - 🗺️📚Regional books - very limited, mostly English language books. - 🦹🏼♀️ Comics - Limited collection . Although they might be housed in the downstairs section which I didnt get to browse due to the crowd. - ♿ Wheelchair index - None. The entry only has steps, and the narrow aisles make maneuverability difficult. - 🅿️🚘Parking - Paid parking outside complex
Just received my order from Midland Books, and I’m genuinely impressed! 📚✨ The packaging was so elegant and thoughtful that I almost didn’t want to open it — and when I did, the books were in perfect condition. The signed copies, personalized touches, and overall customer care were simply exceptional. The little extras — the bookmarks, a “12 Years” magnetic one, and a “You’re Awesome” sticker — added such a delightful charm. It’s clear that Midland puts real effort and heart into every detail. Truly a wonderful experience! I’m so happy with my purchase and will definitely be shopping with them again. 💫
On one of my long, meandering walks through Hauz Khas, I wandered into Midland Bookshop in Aurobindo Market, a beloved Delhi gem for readers, seekers, and researchers. This family bookshop is walkable, welcoming, and brimming with shelves that invite you to linger. if you cannot find the book, just ask the professional book sellers as they know about everything and everything ever published, and they could order it for you or most likely they have it. To deepen my immersion into the city I love, I left Midland with a stack of books that now anchor my understanding of Dilli’s many diverse layers. For fellow travelers and curious souls who wish to explore Delhi’s history and India’s rich cultural heritage through reading, here is my Delhi Reading List, discovered, inspired, and nourished at Midland: • Delhi: A Thousand Years of Building by Lucy Peck • City of Djinns: A Year in Delhi by William Dalrymple • Delhi: Discovering the Secrets of its Many Cities by Nita Bery • The Golden Road and The Himalayas by William Dalrymple • Early Indians by Tony Joseph • The Dawn of Everything by David Graeber and David Wengrow • Āthār-us-Ṣanādīd (آثار الصنادید) by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan (Translated as Monuments of Delhi: Architectural & Historical (Prof. R. Nath) Also translated as Asar-us-Sanadid: Monuments and Environs of Pre-Colonial Delhi (Rana Safvi) These works provide invaluable insights into Delhi’s past and present, its architectural soul, and the broader narratives of India’s heritage. If you want to dive into slow travel and cultural immersion, start here, with a walk to Midland, where books become your companions, and Delhi opens itself layer by layer. Jana Shakti Travels.~
