Indian Institute Of Technology–Madras (IIT–Madras)

Recently visited IIT Madras during the Open House for the All Program and had a truly wonderful experience. The campus has an excellent ambience and reflects the reputation of one of India’s premier institutions. The academic infrastructure is top-notch, and the overall atmosphere is extremely peaceful and inspiring. The campus is neat, clean, and surrounded by abundant greenery, creating a calm and eco-friendly environment. It’s an ideal place for academicians and students to aspire toward achieving the highest academic laurels. The location is also very pleasant, making the learning experience even more enriching. Pros: Highly reputed institute with global recognition Excellent academic and research infrastructure Peaceful, green, and well-maintained campus Inspiring environment for learning and innovation Well-organized Open House and welcoming atmosphere Cons: The campus is very large, so navigating it can be time-consuming for first-time visitors Limited accessibility to certain areas during peak events Overall, IIT Madras offers an outstanding academic environment and leaves a lasting impression. A must-visit institution for aspiring students and academicians.

I went for the CARES-2025 Conference at IIT Madras. The campus is very clean. Deers, BlackBucks, cats, etc were roaming freely in campus. Monkeys with long tails were also there. Campus is quite big (617 acres) compared to my campus at IIT Delhi (320-325 acres). Electric shuttle buses free of costs are available after every 20 min. During my visit in November 2025, the weather was quite humid during 10 am -5 pm approximately. Taste of the food was also good. During night, generally the temperature drops down.

I recently visited IIT Madras, and the experience was truly memorable. The campus is huge in terms of area, almost like a small city of its own. It has everything—from a large stadium to mini grounds and multiple sports arenas. Anyone who enjoys open spaces and greenery will definitely appreciate the ambience here. One thing I noticed is that it can be a bit difficult to find hotels nearby, so planning your stay in advance is helpful. However, once you’re inside the campus, everything feels calm, peaceful, and very well-maintained. A beautiful highlight of IIT Madras is the frequent sight of deer wandering freely around the campus. It adds a special charm and makes the environment feel close to nature. The campus atmosphere is truly lovable. Food options are also impressive. You can get quality food at very reasonable prices, which is a great plus for students and visitors. The transportation inside the campus is convenient as well. There is a bus service every 20 minutes, available at each gate—especially near the main entrance—which makes it easy to move around the large campus. One of the major landmarks here is the Gajendra Circle, a popular spot and one of the main highlights of IIT Madras. Overall, a must-visit campus with a perfect blend of nature, facilities, and peaceful vibes.
