The Mahatma Gandhi statue in Chennai is a well-known landmark. It is located on Marina Beach Road (Kamarajar Salai) and is near Anna Square, at the southern end of Marina Beach. It’s impressive bring a height of 18 feet & made of dark stone. It was unveiled in 1959 and has Gandhi standing with a walking stick, symbolising the Dandi March and non-violent resistance. It is said to evokes the Dandi Salt March (1930), symbolising civil disobedience and moral resistance. It’s nice to see late afternoon on the beach walk.

Not sure all these reviews here for real or not, only one I had read about construction work is real. We walk across dangerous intersections to just find out the status was behind all these blue thin metal fences, and peek through the fences on dangerous road to find out it’s behind the fence. Some reviews here said yummy, a post his own photo, what the heck. A review said Korean temple? Stupid people Very disappointed here in Chennai, came for few days transit to Singapore, all places we visited were based on high reviews and counts. But they all turned out either fake or not accurate information. Places are either closed or under construction, and the nice beaches were just not worth visiting.

Gandhi Statue at Marina Beach is an iconic landmark and a significant tribute to the Father of the Nation. Standing tall, it’s both inspiring and peaceful, a reminder of Gandhi's ideals of non-violence and freedom. The statue is beautifully crafted, with a striking presence that draws visitors throughout the day. Located right on Marina Beach, it offers a unique experience of history and scenic beauty combined. The surrounding area is often lively, with vendors, locals, and tourists enjoying the sea breeze and views. The atmosphere in the evening is particularly special, with the beach lights and a cool breeze making it a pleasant spot to reflect or take photos. While it can get crowded, the statue remains well-maintained, and the area around it is generally clean. It's a must-visit for anyone exploring Chennai and looking to connect with both the city’s culture and India’s history.
