Writers cafe holds a special place in my heart. Have tried almost the whole of their menu over my past 3 years in Chennai and they’ve not disappointed even a single time. My personal favourites are their skillet chicken, hot chocolate, sticky lemon chicken, madras chicken BBQ pizza and their chocolate cake. Amazing food and good price point is what makes them stand out. Also the same standard is maintained at all outlets across the city. I’ve been to their egmore, gopalapuram and the VR mall outlet and the quality and taste remained the same in all outlets. Keep up the good work.
The ambience at Writer’s Café, is really impressive, with funky artwork that gives the place a lively and creative vibe. It’s a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. We ordered the crispy chicken mac and cheese and the smoked chicken and cheese pizza. The mac and cheese was my personal favourite. It had a subtle flavour, and the crispy fried chicken added a satisfying crunch to every bite. While it tasted delicious, I felt it could have been a bit richer, with more cheese and a thicker consistency. The smoked chicken and cheese pizza, with its tomato-based sauce, was average for my taste. However, the portion size was quite generous, which was a plus. For dessert, we tried the Writer’s hot chocolate and the Swiss hot chocolate. The Writer’s hot chocolate stood out with its rich texture and slight bitterness, which added a nice depth of flavour. The Swiss hot chocolate was enjoyable too, but felt a bit too watery in consistency. Overall, it was a good experience, though the café is on the pricier side.
1) Staff to customer ratio was low, despite that the staffs did their best 2) Ventilation was poor, it was a bit hot 3) Signature hot chocolate 5/5 4) sticky chicken 4/5 5) chicken bolognaise pasta 0/5 and even had a small hair, tasted like 🤮 6) peri peri chicken 3.5/5 7) soup on the day 4/5 8) chicken wrap 2/5 almost gave me a food poisoning There is room for improvement, and the servers are trying their best to keep up with the crowd Increase the prices and add some more staff and improve a few dishes like the chicken bolognaise.
