I recently visited Marina Beach and had a good experience. It is a very long beach, and the cleanliness is okay. There are swings and some statues where you can take photos, which makes it enjoyable. The security is decent, and toilets are available and fairly clean. The best part is that there is no ticket required — it is free to visit. Overall, I liked the place and enjoyed my time there.

Marina Beach was developed into a prominent promenade in 1884 during British rule by Mountstuart Elphinstone Grant Duff, who served as the Governor of Madras. He transformed the sandy stretch along the Bay of Bengal into a beautiful public beachfront, making it one of the longest urban beaches in the world, extending about 12 kilometers. One of the special features of Marina Beach is its wide sandy shore, which is much broader than many other beaches in India. The beach is lined with statues of famous Tamil scholars, poets, and leaders, adding cultural significance to its natural beauty. Important landmarks such as the historic lighthouse and the memorials of former Chief Ministers, including the Anna Memorial, are located here. Though swimming is restricted due to strong currents, the beach is famous for its sunrise views, evening walks, and vibrant street food stalls that attract thousands daily.

An overdue place we ever wanted to visit in Chennai for many trips. Marina Beach was the one! We finally made it happen on our recent visit here. Marina Beach is very famous and has a long coastline but it didn’t fully meet my expectations. The place was extremely crowded and cleanliness could be improved which made it difficult to enjoy a peaceful beach atmosphere. It’s fine for a short visit or to see a well known landmark but not ideal if you’re looking for a calm and relaxing beach experience. However as a food lover I tried some food from the small beach vendors and it was quite good and tasty. In addition to that, the whole drive has a bunch of landmarks like the Lighthouse and historical memorials. We didn't go to those but passed by them.
