We celebrated our parents’ 30th anniversary at Mekong, Marigold Hotel, and it was a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. The ambience is elegant yet comfortable, making it ideal for a special occasion. The pan-Asian menu offers great variety, and every dish we tried was thoughtfully prepared. The sushis were fresh and well-balanced, the shrimp rolls crispy and flavourful, and the crab dish stood out for its freshness and rich taste. The noodles were perfectly cooked and satisfying, while the clay pot dishes were warm, hearty, and full of comforting flavours. We ended the meal with their toffee caramel dessert, which was indulgent without being overly sweet—an excellent finish to the evening. Overall, Mekong delivers on food, ambience, and service, making it a great choice for celebrations and refined pan-Asian dining.
I visited Mekong for lunch recently, and while the ambience and service were pleasant, the food didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The lotus stem was really good and the dessert was enjoyable, but the main course felt a bit bland. I expected slightly stronger flavours, especially at a place with this reputation. Overall, it was a decent experience, but the food could be improved, particularly the main dishes.
One of the finest pan Asian places and also one of the firsts in Hyderabad to offer this cuisine. Used to be our favourite for pan Asian but the pricing has almost tripled in the last 10+ years. Even with inflation I just don’t see how the pricing is justified here especially being in Ameerpet and not hi-tech city or financial district. Recently celebrated a milestone event here. Our expectations were sky high as that’s the impression we always had of this place. But having had pan Asian in many places in Hyderabad when we went here we were somewhat disappointed. I mean ambience is great we knew, service was good (can be a little better btw) but the food was just about okay, nothing great that you pay twice and get lesser quantity compared to many other pan Asian in the city.
