Nahoum & Sons – not just a bakery, but Kolkata’s living heritage ❤️ Tucked inside New Market, Nahoum & Sons has been standing strong since British-era Kolkata, and walking in truly feels like stepping back in time 🕰️✨ This legendary bakery doesn’t chase trends—it preserves history, tradition, and timeless flavours. Come Christmas, you’ll see people happily queueing for nearly an hour for their iconic plum cakes and fruit cakes 🎄🍰—a ritual passed down through generations, and absolutely worth the wait. The cheese puffs and veg patties are classics done right 🥐🔥—golden, flaky, buttery, and deeply comforting. Simple, honest food that leaves a lasting impression. Nahoum isn’t about fancy presentation. It’s about memories, emotions, and flavours that belong to Kolkata’s soul ❤️ A must-visit for anyone who loves heritage and food with a story. #NahoumAndSons #HeritageBakery #NewMarketKolkata #BritishEraLegacy #KolkataFoodTrail #PlumCakeLegend #ChristmasTradition #OldWorldCharm #TimelessTaste
Such a pathetic experience at this so‑called iconic and overhyped place. Every item was overwhelmingly sweet, yet somehow tasteless at the same time. The balance of flavor was completely missing, and despite the reputation, the products felt flat and uninspired. On top of that, the mismanagement was glaring. The shop boys don’t bother to tell you the names or prices of items, and nothing is displayed properly. The products are showcased in a scattered, confusing way, and the packing is downright terrible—they don’t even know how to pack so that items remain intact. The irony is that despite having such a big shop filled with long tables, the security guard doesn’t allow customers to sit and eat inside. Honestly, handmade and smaller cake shops around the city know far better how to design their items, maintain order, and bring real taste to the table. Compared to them, Nahoum’s fails miserably. Even Coffee House feels like a winner in comparison. If you’re looking for authentic flavor, thoughtful preparation, and basic customer respect, you’ll be better off exploring local bakeries rather than wasting time here.
