I visited Bahrisons based on a recommendation. The place has a great collection of books, but it’s a bit difficult to find specific genres as there aren’t clearly marked sections like self-help, fiction, etc. I brought my own book and ordered a coffee along with a mushroom and cheese croissant. The café wasn’t very reading-friendly - there was a lot of noise from conversations and children, so it was hard to focus on reading. I wasn’t entirely sure if the space was meant for eating, reading, or both. The food I ordered had an issue, but they handled it well , replaced it and didn’t charge extra. Everything was served hot. I also tried browsing for books, but it was a bit chaotic and finding specific titles was challenging. Overall, Bahrisons is a nice place to visit for its book collection and food, but it may not be ideal for a quiet reading session.
Visited the store on 18th August. I spent almost 2–3 hours here without even realizing it — that’s how good the place is. The collection and staff were fantastic, and the whole vibe of the store was so welcoming. A big shoutout to Bali Sir who not only helped me find the books on my list but also suggested some amazing recommendations. What I loved most was their dedicated section for Everyman’s Library and clothbound editions along with penguin select classics — absolute favorites of mine. Ended up walking out with 8–9 books which were on my checklist for a long time now! Honestly, such a cozy spot for book lovers.
The tables in the cafe section go pretty fast, so if you plan to sip and read or work on your laptop, get there early :p Still, my main motivation for visiting is the excellent collection. I'm particularly fond of the translated manga, manhwa, English-language graphic novels, and the young adult illustrated books section, do check these out if you love a good graphic novel more than walls and walls of text. That said, the history, politics, world affairs books are also a great mix of things. And lastly, the selection of Japanese and Korean fiction is just chef's kiss. Definitely grab a few copies for yourself.
