It is easily one of the best late night hangout spots in Chennai. It’s impressive how a space under a busy flyover has been transformed into such a vibrant, clean and breezy open air food hub. The place feels even better after sunset with the lighting, music and lively crowd creating a modern night market vibe. Loved the variety of food options available, from KFC, Pizza Hut, Starbucks and Junior Kuppanna to desserts, bubble tea, pancakes and Korean food. The seating layout is spacious with both indoor and outdoor options, making it great for families, friends, couples and even casual coffee meetups. The kids play area, arcade games, flea markets and live events add to the overall experience. Parking is available at a reasonable fee, though weekends can get crowded and seating becomes competitive. Prices are slightly premium, but the ambience and overall experience make it worth visiting.
Best Place in the city. Ambience will be better when visiting during nights. Most of the shops are opened till 12.00. Common free parking, restroom facilities available. Variety of food shops, chinese, indian, desserts, bakery, coffee, juice, snacks, ice cream and almost all the shops are available. There are some stalls to buy fancy items, kids toys, dresses and so on. Food Street tables are cleaned as soon as we complete using. Place is maintained near and clean. Ambience is beautiful with lights and decorations at night. Most of the food items are costly for the quality and quantity they serve.
UPTOWN at Kathipara Urban Square is one of the most interesting and enjoyable food court experiences in Chennai, mainly because of how well it blends food, space, and city life. Located right under the Kathipara flyover, this place has turned what was once just a traffic-heavy junction into a lively hangout spot where people come to eat, relax, and spend time with friends or family. The first thing that stands out is the open layout. Unlike a typical closed food court inside a mall, UPTOWN feels airy and energetic. You can hear the city around you, see people constantly moving in and out, and still enjoy your food comfortably. In the evenings especially, the place comes alive with lights, conversations, and a casual street-food vibe that makes it fun to just sit and observe. Food options here are diverse and suit different moods and budgets. From quick snacks and beverages to more filling meals, there’s enough variety to satisfy groups where everyone wants something different. It’s a great spot for people who like trying multiple stalls in one visit. The food is generally fresh and served quickly, making it ideal for a casual outing rather than a long wait dining experience. Seating is spread across the square, and while it can get crowded during peak hours, the turnover is fast. You might need a little patience to find a seat on busy evenings or weekends, but the lively atmosphere makes the wait feel less frustrating. The place feels safe, well-lit, and organized, which is especially important given its central location. One major advantage of UPTOWN is accessibility. Being right at Kathipara, it’s easy to reach from different parts of the city, and it works well as a quick stop after work or a late-night food run. The fact that it stays open late adds to its appeal, especially for people who don’t want to sit in a closed restaurant but still want good food and company. Cleanliness and maintenance are decent considering the high footfall. Waste is cleared regularly, and the overall area is managed well. Security presence also adds to the comfort, especially for families and solo visitors. Overall, UPTOWN at Kathipara Urban Square is not just about food — it’s about the experience. It’s a place where you can grab a bite, have a conversation, and feel connected to the city around you. If you’re looking for a relaxed, urban food court with a lively atmosphere and plenty of choices, this is definitely worth a visit.
