Recently we visited Tai Chi 8, located in the heart of Gariahat, to try out some of their popular dishes. While the place has a catchy name and a decent ambience, our overall experience with food and service was quite mixed. Here’s a breakdown of what we tried: ⭐ Starters 1. Korean Green Chicken (8 pcs) – ₹575/- This was easily the star of the evening. Perfectly marinated, well-cooked, and packed with flavor, the chicken had a juicy bite with a slight Korean-style twist that made it stand out. Though it was overpriced compared to the quantity, but it was worth trying. Taste Rating: 4.8/5 2. Tai Chi 8 Chilli Prawn (6 pcs) – ₹665/- The prawns tasted decent with a good balance of spice and crispness. However, the dish was let down by excess salt, and considering the small portion, it felt overpriced for what we got. Taste Rating: 4/5 🍜 Main Course 3. Mix Kolkata Styled Hakka Noodles – ₹455/- A complete disappointment. The noodles lacked flavor, and didn’t carry that authentic Kolkata Hakka street-style taste. For the price, the portion was small and not worth it at all. Taste Rating: 2/5 4. Mix Kolkata Styled Fried Rice – ₹475/- Surprisingly better than the noodles. The rice had a nice buttery touch and the mix of veggies and meat was good. However, the quantity did not justify the steep pricing, leaving us a little dissatisfied. Taste Rating: 4.5/5 5. Chicken Tai Chi 8 Special Sauce (12pcs) – ₹585/- This was the biggest letdown. Marketed as a special dish, but it was nothing more than a subpar chilli chicken. The chicken pieces were bland, and tasted like they were boiled. No richness in flavor, and completely overpriced for what was served. Taste Rating: 2/5 The service was impolite and unwelcoming, which left a negative impression overall. ✅ Overall Experience Tai Chi 8 in Gariahat has a few good starters like Korean Green Chicken and a decent fried rice, but most of the menu items are overpriced compared to the quantity. Overall Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆ ☆ (2/5)
