I was in Delhi around CP and was craving dosa, so after a quick Google search, my friend and I decided to try The South Cafe. We ordered the ghee podi masala dosa and ghee podi thatte idli. Along with Buttermilk and Mojito. Buttermilk was refreshing but the mojito was just basic and too sweet. The place is much smaller than I had imagined, with very basic seating. The AC wasn’t working strongly and the fans didn’t really help either, which made it slightly uncomfortable. On the positive side, the prices are quite economical compared to many places these days. I genuinely liked the taste of the food — the sambar was delicious, and the chutneys were equally good, especially the coconut chutney. The service was nice and quick, which is always appreciated. The only thing I felt was missing was that rich, extra ghee flavour that you usually expect from a “ghee podi” dish. Apart from that, my experience was nice and satisfying overall.

Out of the five core components—concept, cuisine, service, setting, and systems, this cafe excelled in almost every area. The ambiance was inviting, the hospitality was good, and the staff was professional and very good. Even the food presentation was a 10/10. However, the most critical sub-component—taste was unfortunately missing. I ordered the Rawa Masala Dosa and the Ghee Podi Masala Dosa, while the quality and presentation were excellent, the fillings, chutneys, and sambhar were entirely tasteless. Except taste everything else about the experience was perfect. Anyone with a keen sense of taste and a high standard for flavor will immediately understand what I mean. Conclusion: Rest Very good Cafe.

The ambience is pretty good. Not very crowded in the early hours. Service was quick and welcoming. Tried the ghee pudi thatte idli (₹129). It was on point. Special mention to their tomato and coconut chutneys, they were amazing. Buttermilk was pretty good too, cool and refreshing. Great experience overall.
