Marz-O-Rin is one of the oldest restaurants in Pune and the old-style architecture definitely gives it a nostalgic charm. It’s known for snacks like sandwiches, pizzas, burgers and coffee, and many people visit mainly for the old-school vibe. I visited in the evening and the place was very crowded. We had to wait quite a bit to get a table. The ordering system is a little inconvenient — first you need to find and occupy a table on your own, then go to the counter, tell them your table number and place the order. After that, the food is delivered to the table. Personally, I found this a bit disappointing and tiring, especially when the place is packed. Coming to the food, it was okayish. Not bad, but not great either. Considering the hype and google map reviews for this place, my expectations were higher. It feels more like an Instagram-popular spot these days rather than a place you visit mainly for good food 😀. Overall, worth visiting once for the heritage feel, but don’t go in expecting something great in terms of taste.
Spending a few months in Pune, and trying to know about legacy places.. the name Marz-O-Rin is something which always makes it to the list along with nearby Dorabjee and Sons. This Parsi eatery located in the Camp area within a heritage building has served a lot of people since 1965, so thought of being one of them tonight! The place is crowded with people who are either waiting for their turns to be seated or taking a takeaway and the building consists of 2 floors. I found way to place your order as something unique where one has to mention their table number which is present on the respective seated table and let the counter know what you would like and pay it.. the servers would then bring the food to you on your respective table! I ordered: 1) Grill chicken sandwich: Toasted in a regular white bread the sandwich consisted of grilled chicken, onions, green capsicum/bell pepper 🫑. The quantity of the grilled chicken was really less whereas the cost was 100 rupees for it which was divided into 4 pieces! Didn't feel like it's worth the price as such.Nothing special either as it was more bready! Pretty sure one can make a better one at home! 2) Chocolate Thick Shake: This was actually the savior and helped to achieve the extra star to the food! Chocolatey and thick just how it should be.. but wish the quantity was better for 100 rupees! 3) Chocolate cake: Initially didn't plan it but thought of having it since I'm not sure when I'll return again this far! The sponge was dry enough to make my throat feel thirsty whereas the chocolate cream/frosting was okay.. there was a cream on top which was coffee flavored which was again okayish.. overall not the great chocolate cake! To conclude, it's a legacy restaurant basked in its legacy and all that remains is hype these days! 2 stars for the food and one extra star for the ambiance and the way owners have maintained the place compared to the legacy Irani restaurants you'll find in Mumbai..
Tried their famous Green Chutney Sandwich simple, fresh, and packed with flavor. The hint of coconut in the chutney makes it stand out. Best enjoyed fresh while you’re there. Also had the Paneer Grilled Sandwich perfectly balanced, no unnecessary sauces, just clean and honest taste. The balcony seating adds to the charm — a great spot for a relaxed evening. Marzorin stays true to its legacy of good food done right. Highly recommended.
